European Work in Progress Cologne 2019 is set for October 14-16, 2019 and is still open for submissions. EWIP seeks to elevate European projects in (post-)production by opening up opportunities to find world sales, financing or distribution partners and festivals. The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2019.

European Work in Progress Cologne is an industry event for European films and co-productions with high-quality appeal and crossover market potential. It is hosted by AG Verleih, the association of German independent distributors, and supported by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, one of Germany’s leading film funding institutions. EWIP will be taking place during the Film Festival Cologne (Oct. 10-17, 2019) at the Filmforum.

Who can submit?

Until July 31, 2019 producers of European films or co-productions with at least one European country involved can submit a project in the later stage of production seeking to close a gap in the final financing or to find partners for an adequate international release strategy. For the first time, the selection committee of EWIP will consider feature length documentary films when choosing up to 25 high-profile projects, whereas the focus remains on narrative films. Only projects that have excerpts of already shot material available to pitch to the attending group of experienced professionals at the time of the event are eligible. A renowned international jury will acknowledge the winners of the best pitches with in-kind awards including post-production services worth 50,000 € provided by our partners ARRI Media, K13 Studios, Éclair and LAVAlabs  as well as international festival publicity provided by ZOOM Medienfabrik.

After attending Marché du Film in Cannes, Hen-Suk Jung, head of event management, will be attending Filmfest München from July 1-3, 2019 to give further information on EWIP. If you would like to set up a meeting, please feel free to contact her directly (contact details below).

For the last edition, more than 100 feature film projects involving 49 countries world-wide had been submitted and 250 industry delegates (producers, sales agents, distributors, festival programmer, film commissioners etc.) from 33 countries attended the event. Several festival participations and closed deals followed in the aftermath of the new meeting platform.

European Work in Progress Cologne will be accompanied by various panel discussions and workshops in cooperation with Creative Europe Desks Germany and EAVE.
