European Work in Progress Cologne (EWIP) will celebrate its 7th edition from 14 to 16 October 2024 thanks to the support of Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, one of Europe’s leading film funding institutions.

A total of up to 30 European feature films, documentary, animation and fiction, in the shooting or post-production stages will be chosen by the committee to be presented exclusively to world sales companiesdistributorsfestival programmers and film industry professionals during the event.

EWIP and TorinoFilmLab, the renowned international audiovisual laboratory, continue to join forces: three film projects developed or supported within the FeatureLab, ScriptLab and TFL Funds programmes and now in post-production stage will be part of the EWIP official selection. 

The selected European (co-)productions will be elegible for the different EWIP Awards including post-production services worth around 50,000 € provided by our partners K13 StudiosMMC Film & TV StudiosLAVAlabs Moving ImagesGruviWay Filmmm filmpresse as well as the EWIP TorinoFilmLab Audience Design Award. A jury of renowned film professionals will once again award them to the best projects.

Thanks to their participation in EWIP, numerous projects have been selected to celebrate their world premieres in Venice, Berlin, Cannes, Sundance, Rotterdam, San Sebastian or Toronto, or secured a deal for international sales or distribution.

European Work in Progress Cologne takes place ahead and in cooperation with the Film Festival Cologne (17-24 October 2024), the AG Verleih, the association of German independent film distributors, as well as Creative Europe Desk NRW and Creative Europe Desks Germany

Who can submit projects to EWIP?

Producers of European productions or co-productions with at least one European country involved can submit a project in the later stage of production seeking to close a gap in the final financing or to find suitable partners for an adequate international release strategy.

Eligible are projects that have excerpts of already shot material available to be presented to the attending group of selected film industry representatives. The submitted material can, of course, differ from the material presented. The pitches are scheduled for a maximum of 15 minutes including film excerpts and a Q&A. Besides the many informal networking opportunities, there will be individual one-to-one meetingspanel discussionsworkshops and evening events to make the participation as impactful as possible.

The Call for projects will open shortly and accept submissions until 1 September 2024
