Seeking to close a gap in the final financing or looking for partners for an adequate international release strategy of your current project?

This is just a quick reminder to submit your film to European Work in Progress Cologne by 1 September 2022.

European Work in Progress Cologne (EWIP) celebrates its 5th edition from 17 to 19 October 2022 in the run-up to the Film Festival Cologne, Germany. The networking event is mainly supported by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, one of Europe’s leading film funding institutions.

 Who can submit?

Until 1 September 2022 producers of European films or co-productions with at least one European country involved can submit a project in their later stage of production.

A selection of European feature films, fiction, documentary and animation, in the shooting or post-production stage will be chosen by the committee to be exclusively presented to world sales companiesdistributorsfestival programmers and film industry delegates during the event.

Eligible are projects that have excerpts of already shot material available (min. 20 min., no trailer/teaser) to present to the attending group of selected experts and decision makers in the film industry. The submitted material can, of course, differ from the material presented. The pitches are scheduled for a max. of 15 minutes incl. film excerpts and a Q&A. Besides the many informal networking opportunities, there will be individual one-to-one meetingspanel discussionsworkshops and evening events to make the participation as impactful as possible.

For this new edition, EWIP and TorinoFilmLab, the renowned international laboratory, join forces and up to 5 film projects developed or supported within the FeatureLab, ScriptLab and TFL Funds programmes and now in post-production stage will also be part of EWIP’s official selection. 

A total of up to 30 European (co-)productions will compete for the different EWIP Awards including post-production services and international festival promotion worth around 52,500 €. The prizes are provided by our partners K13 StudiosMMC Film & TV StudiosLAVAlabs Moving Images and mm filmpresse as well as the new TorinoFilmLab Audience Design Award and will – once again – be awarded by a jury of renowned film professionals.

Thanks to their participation in EWIP, numerous projects have been selected to celebrate their world premiere in e.g. Venice, Berlin, Cannes, Sundance, Rotterdam, San Sebastian, Toronto, or secured a deal for international sales or distribution.

European Work in Progress Cologne is organised in cooperation with the Film Festival Cologne as well as AG Verleih, the association of German independent film distributors and Creative Europe Desks Germany among other valuable partners.
